We are Venn, a small design agency with big ideas. We make the connection between your needs and creative solutions, by creating exciting brands, identities, websites and design.
We're currently working on a shiny new website - so in the meantime, check out some of our recent work.
Award winning blogger Katie Treggiden asked us to design her first book, Confessions of a Design Geek, Interviews :: 1. Featuring interviews with heavyweights and newcomers from the design world; including Javier Mariscal, Wim Crouwel and John Makepeace. At time of writing – its been out for two days, and already been featured on Design Week.
As well as producing her book, Katie asked us to take a look at her brand. Homemade business cards, a fresh new blog and some simple brand guidelines are already helping her reach new audiences. confessionsofadesigngeek.com
We’ve been official sponsors and all-round designers for the inaugral London Surf / Film Festival. Brands, Logos, Crests, Print and Web ads, Idents, concepts, slashes and a website once-over; we’ve brought it all to the table. www.londonsurffilmfestival.com
We designed and produced telltales’ first publication which publishes new authors alongside established writers. The book has recently won us an award for graphic design at the Media and Innovation Awards 2011, where it was described as “A beautifully crafted object that augments the content exceptionally well” and “a celebration of print and the beauty of the written word”.

To support the publication we’ve designed and built a content managed website; a home for extra features, excerpts, stockists and a place to buy the publication.
We’ve been working with one of the worlds largest brands, helping them to spread the word about important social and environmental issues. We were asked to further develop the website’s capabilities and we’re currently working on improving the sites design, functionality and useability.
We’re currently helping carry out a brand audit for Cornwall’s 175 year old hub for arts, history and sciences, which will culminate in Venn creating a new identity for the historic society. In the meantime we’ve been producing some interim programmes for The Poly, The RCPS’s venue in Falmouth. Despite a tight budget we’ve produced what we think are engaging and functional programmes, which don’t sacrifice on style.
We have designed, branded and built a new website highlighting only the best Cornwall has to offer. An advanced modification of a popular content management system means the site is entirely managed by the client, but stays easy to use and update. We’ve also been building customised Facebook pages, new business cards and eflyer templates to help them reach the widest audience possible. They reached 1000 fans on Facebook within 3 days of launching, and visitors to the site are going through the roof.
Our good friends at The Vine Marketing asked us to update their site, built on Expression Engine content management system. We added a little spit and polish and a lot of soul to both improve the representation of brand image and the back end functionality of the site, creating a slicker user experience – both front and back end.
We’ve recently designed and built a new content managed site for the pioneering arts company. Eff uses creative practice to help build confidence, boost emotional resilience, spark imaginations and trigger the formation of new networks and relationships. The site has a built in javascript based filtering system, and uses striking, dynamically generated fullscreen backgrounds.
We’re proud to be supporting the Poly by providing all the design for their new season of programming. Here’s the first poster with an illustration by the ever-talented frootful.co.uk
Some new postcards for the devonport Guildhall’s official launch event. With full bleed images everywhere, we went for something a little different.

We are delighted to launch the howlongwouldyouwait.com website. We were comissioned by effervescent in april to design and develop a digital bed for the powerful short film shot by Hana Backland, how long would you wait. The film was made to raise awareness of psychosis, and encourage referrals to Cornwall’s Early intervention Team. We ended up being heavily involved in the whole project – helping to create a strong visual style to tie the campaign together, including postcards and usb bracelets (with Myriddin Wannell). These photos don’t do it any justice – so please check it out…
To go with the howlongwouldyouwait campaign we designed a series of postcards featuring stills from the film by Hana Backland for effervescent. The film was made to raise awareness of psychosis and the postcards feature words written (under the guidance of copywriter extraordinaire Clare Howdle) by people who have experienced psychosis.

We’ve recently redesigned Hellfire Magazine – The monthly publication for Redruth Rugby Club’s supporters…
We’ve been busy for the past few months helping Peter de Savary launch his new hotel and private member’s club in Newport, Rhode Island. As ever – Mr. de Savary is a man who knows what he wants – and this time he wanted gold! Printed on a specially made stock with real gold in it – here is a detail from the cover of the brochure.

A sneak peak at the new identity for Hampton Court Castle that we recently did. Watch this space.
Hot off the press, some business cards for our neighbours – the storage people.
We’ve recently produced a new brand, and all that goes with it for Neopartners – international electronic engineers. Here’s some shots of the business cards we’ve just had reprinted.
We worked with copywriter Clare Howdle to produce packaging for The Works’ DVD promoting Cornwall’s theatre community, and they’ve just come back from the printers.

We were lucky enough to be comissioned to create the promotional material for Molly Naylors upcoming Edinburgh Festival show.
Our friends at RIO have been redevoping the Devonport Guildhall into a social enterprise/creative hub – and we’ve been lucky enough to be asked to design all the promotional material, branding and stationery for them. Stay tuned for pictures of signage and more.

Another great branding opportunity with the real ideas organisation. This logo for a programme of Chinese cultural learning was developed within the RIO lockup – we had great fun making a visual language based on paper-cutting.

Never a stranger to a good deed, we designed this promotional brochure for a special event in support of the Handstand appeal. The event raised £20,000 for Marshall Jansen, who will need prosthetic limbs for the rest of his life.
Because of our work for the Handstand appeal – We were asked to design an advert for Rick Stein’s Seafood Café to go with a feature on the Chef.
We created a brand, brochure and website for M/Y Indulgence – visit indulgenceyachtcharter.com. Here’s a close-up of the brochure’s cover with Spot UV details.
